Let’s Talk Teams - How To Take Online Work To The Next Level

Back in April 2020, the shift to remote working was having a dramatic impact on the use and adoption of technology. Speaking at the time, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said his company had seen “two years’ worth of digital transformation in two months”.

In pure user numbers, growth in the use of applications like Teams really stands out. At the beginning of the pandemic, it had around 32 million active daily users. Two months later, that had jumped to more than 75 million and by April this year, the total had almost doubled again to 145 million. Without doubt, Teams is one of the major technology success stories of the last two years.

For Microsoft and other communication software providers such as Zoom, having the right product at the right time has certainly played a huge role in their growth. But these solutions are also having a long term impact on the way businesses operate. And with hybrid working set to become a minimum requirement across the economy, organisations are now looking to improve and optimise their use of Teams.

Key to this process is integration. Building Teams functionality into wider processes and technologies offers the opportunity to take communication and collaboration to the next level. Instead of working with disparate infrastructure which adds to the workloads and inefficiencies faced by users, technologies should work together to provide a seamless communications experience.

For example, bringing Teams together with other key applications in a single desktop experience means there is no need to swap between applications. In practical terms, this means users can make and receive calls directly through Teams, sync calendars, use Teams as a phone and in the process, manage diverts and voicemails with ease.

However, on its own, Teams offers only basic telephony functionality and chat and video do not cover the full spectrum of communication touch points required by companies.

Here at VTSL, we are investing in our solutions portfolio to help customers maximise the impact of Teams by combining VTSL’s comprehensive telephony solutions with Teams’ collaboration functionality.

Amongst a range of enhancements to help future proof communications technologies, existing VTSL softphones can be converted to Teams softphones at no additional cost, and customers have a choice of using both desk phones and/or Teams on a one number scheme.

This service is fully supported by VTSL, the upgraded service also works with Teams Mobile App. In addition, all VTSL Applications such as Call Recording, Analytics, Dashboards, and Call Monitor can be used though MS Teams.
